Young, upcoming, very talented--just four little words, but an accurate description of Mammoth Mountain's most promising rising star, 20-year-old John Jackson. A child prodigy from Crowley Lake, John first began snowboarding around 1993 at June Mountain, because it just happened to be the best (and only) pipe within spitting distance.

With early encouragement and help from fellow snowboarder and older sister Nicole, John really began to learn the ropes just freeriding at Mammoth. In high school, he even went so far as to take home schooling just so he could ride the pipe more in the daytime while all of his friends were busy slaving away in the classroom. It was around this time that John made it onto the Mammoth Mountain Snowboarding Team, causing another surge in his rapidly expanding repertoire.

After turning pro at a very young age, John has already managed to rack-up some pretty serious career highlights, including his opening part in Hi-Fi, which he was super-stoked on, as well as coverage in major magazines. In more recent times, John has been filming with Mike and Dave Hatchett from Standard Films, most notably for their Notice To Appear effort, as well as the upcoming Lost in Transition.

John's favorite spot is, not surprisingly, Mammoth, as well as traveling around in Japan and Europe. His non-snowboarding hours are usually filled with a little fishing, skateboarding or wakeboarding, depending on his mood, and maybe just a little chill-out with close friends (like main squeeze "Lady Guinney") and family. You better watch out for John Jackson in the future--he's sure to be exploding your mind sometime soon.
